lacking motivation

It has been a while since I last blogged, though I've been keeping pretty busy nothing seems blog worthy. Which is funny, lots of things have been blog worthy.

Like the engagement of two friends that we got to watch and take pictures.

Or discovering some new and fun bars with live music.

Or skiing and seeing all of the natural beauty of Solitude, UT.

Or the Saints winning the Superbowl!!!

I will try to quit being so emo and write on the blog :)

a sea in the desert

Beyond being a relaxing and fun trip we also had fun exploring in and around Palm Springs. While riding the rental car shuttle I described what I thought would be the perfect car for our trip: something old, with a convertible, maybe a car like the one they drive in The Hangover, or maybe some type of muscle car. I am not quite sure why this is my vision of the car I should be cruising the desert in, but I could picture it though I thought it was probably a long shot and we would wind up in a Malibu or similar.

Imagine my excitement when we walked up to the row of rental cars and I spotted a Mustang convertible! Sure it wasn't old like the picture in my head but it was about as close as we were going to get.

We took advantage of our fun little car and did some touring outside of Palm Springs. After looking at a map we decided it would be cool to check out the Salton Sea and upon further investigation we found out one of our favorite tv personalities, Tony Bourdain, also visited the Salton Sea towns of Bombay Beach and Salton City.

The idea of the whole place is cool, but the towns are no longer what they once were. Dead fish (from the high salt content and lack of oxygen) line the shore, property is in disrepair and there does not appear to be much going on. For such a down and out area, it was fun reading street signs and imagining what once was, streets like Yacht Club Blvd make it sound so fun. Back in the day the Salton Sea had a 15 lane boat ramp, today there is not a single boat on the sea.

oasis

John and I spent the long weekend celebrating our first year of marriage in beautiful Palm Springs.

I think Palm Springs may need to become an MLK weekend tradition. The trip was relaxing, exciting and fun.

put off til later

You would think after going out of town for the weekend I have plenty of stories and pictures to share. In fact I do, but not yet (and it is Thursday, boo to me).

All I can say is Nashville was/is awesome and seeing one of my very best friends in the whole entire world was even more awesome.

My excuse for being slow is a terrible one, but I will share it anyway. I have been trying to take it easy and go to bed earlier. I guess I never realized how early (or soon after work) 9:30 really is, as a result there has been little time for uploading pictures and blogging. Opps!

you're my clementine

Does anyone not love these little guys?

Most likely my favorite fruit, I am always sad when I go to the supermarket late winter and they are no longer availble.

This year, after insisting that he doesn't really like them, or oranges in general(HELLO?! they are not oranges), John has really come around. Clementines are flying out of the bowl at our house, only those who have never really had a clementine can resist them.

I, on the other hand, have been enjoying the delicious fruits in extreme moderation (at least compared to most years) in observance of Spring Leaning.
